Dorothy Marie is an unbridled indie pop-rock songwriter hailing from Northern Colorado. The daughter of a former metal guitarist and R&B singer, she fell in love with music while holed up during an uncommonly long winter in her pre-teens. After showcasing her talent cross-country, she signed her first recording deal at seventeen. Her first studio album, Just Me (& You), chronicles the acoustic journey of being diagnosed with OCD as a teen, mixed with moodier power ballads written on self-acceptance and discovery. Her second studio release, the Heartstopper EP, revealed a newfound electric edge while refining her signature lyric style. Featuring tales of finding love (only to realize it may not be enough) and the observation of human sexuality as a yet undiscovered ace, Dorothy effortlessly positioned herself as a daring songwriter. As a teenager, she tenaciously held her own as a solo artist on male-dominated stages in the Colorado indie scene, performing next to local favorites such as Mike Ring and Silver and Gold.

Now residing in Los Angeles, she is bursting onto the indie music scene while simultaneously awaiting the release of her first lead role on film. In her upcoming single release, Six Strings, Dorothy blends sadgirl soul with a nostalgic 90’s pop-rock flair.

Growing up neurodivergent in a repressive environment, Dorothy wants to provide inspiration to those who have always felt like they are missing something that others have. Furthermore, she hopes that her music will help adolescents discover how they possess far more than they were told. Dorothy’s music has been described as the poignant writing chops of Maggie Rogers meeting the acidic pointedness of rock staples like Jimmy Eat World and No Doubt. She has effortlessly positioned herself as an artist to watch in LA’s indie music scene.
